Laura is an accomplished river restoration practitioner and aquatic ecologist. She works to ensure that American Rivers’ national river conservation efforts are informed by current science and to pursue research efforts that inform river conservation. Laura also works to accelerate effective restoration practice across the country and to facilitate and manage dam removal projects in the mid-Atlantic. Laura’s areas of professional expertise include aquatic ecology, restoration theory and practice, monitoring and evaluation, and project and contract management. She has eight years of teaching experience, regularly presents to university and non-profit audiences, and maintains active memberships in the Society for Freshwater Science, Society for Ecological Restoration, and the Ecological Society of America. Laura received a BS in Biology from Susquehanna University and a PhD in Behavior, Ecology, Evolution and Systematics from University of Maryland-College Park.
