Mechiya Jamison is a multidisciplinary thinker, planner, facilitator, storyteller, writer, placemaker, curator, poet, recording and visual artist, and activist. She initially came to ELP as a Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Fellow, and transitioned to a long-term position in the summer of 2023 at the conclusion of her 2-year Fellowship. Mechiya attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where she studied Urban Studies and Public Policy, and she is also a Mobile Artist for city-wide initiative We Will Chicago. Dedicated to liberation and environmental justice, she uses art as a tool to build solidarity, cultural understanding, and a means of collective power and consciousness.

At ELP, Mechiya brings her creativity and vision to her work of collaborative storytelling to lift up the experiences, professional and life work, and evolving leadership of our Fellowship communities.
