Celebration of Leadership
A Discussion of the Causes and Politics of Breast Cancer
November 28, 6-8:30 PM
Join the Environmental Leadership Program in a preview event for No Family History, a documentary film that follows one mother’s struggle through breast cancer treatment while exploring environmental risk factors that may cause instances of breast cancer in women with no family history of the disease.
This preview event will feature selections from the film and a public interview between Andrea Roane, morning anchor for W*USA 9 News and film
director and ELP Senior Fellow Dr. Sabrina McCormick, on the topic of environmental health and breast cancer. Ms. Roane is a veteran broadcaster now in her 26th year with W*USA 9, as well as a leader on breast health
issues, including the innovative Washington, DC breast cancer awareness
program, Buddy Check 9. Dr. McCormick is presently a
Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Fellow
at the University of Pennsylvania.

Inspiring Leaders To Action:
No Family History began as an ELP Activity Fund project by Senior Fellows Sabrina McCormick and Bhavna Shamasunder, Doctoral Candidate at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1999, ELP has provided emerging environmental leaders like Sabrina and Bhavna with the skills, networks, and support needed to advance innovative solutions to environmental challenges. The Activity Fund, a small grants program, gives ELP Fellows and Senior Fellows an opportunity to put their leadership training to work on tangible projects that have a lasting community impact.
ELP prepares emerging leaders through our Regional Networks Program, currently active in the Delaware Valley, New England and the Southeast. Each Regional Network annually selects approximately twenty up-and-coming leaders to participate in a yearlong fellowship that increases their public communication and leadership skills. ELP is currently working to establish a new regional program in the Mid-Atlantic, including Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland. Join us on November 28 to find out how you can get involved.
