Every year, ELP selects approximately twenty top environmentalists from across the nation to
participate in the two-year ELP Fellowship. The Fellowship supports talented emerging
environmental leaders from academia, government, business, and nonprofit organizations through
intensive retreats, networking and training opportunities, and a small grants fund to support
innovative and practical environmental projects. ELP fellows represent a diverse spectrum of
experiences, backgrounds, constituencies, and fields of work. Click on the pictures below to

New Directions for ELP Fellows and Senior Fellows
Several ELP fellows and senior fellows have recently begun new phases of their careers or assumed
additional leadership roles.
•September: ELP 2005 Fellow Brian Mayer spoke at the 2006 American Zoo & Aquarium Conference in Tampa, FL. He represented ELP on a panel titled "Becoming a Better You:
Opportunities for Training and Professional Development".
•September: 2006 Delaware Valley Regional Network Associate Suzanne Leta Liou contributed to an Environment New Jersey Report titled, A Blueprint for Action: Policy Options to Reduce New Jersey’s Contribution to Global Warming
•September: ELP 2006 Fellow Mary Anne Hitt, Executive Director of Appalachian Voices hosted the first ever Mountaintop Removal Week in Washington DC
•August: ELP 2006 Fellow Conan Smith was re-elected to the Washtenaw County Commission of Michigan
