Recent ELP Events in New England
• First Annual Green Family Picnic - July 19, 2008.
This was a great outdoor event taking place at Franklin Park July 19 from
11am til 3pm. Families and friends enjoyed the fantastic view from Schoolmaster Hill and
had the opportunity to relax and build community.
•A Celebration of Leadership - June 19, 2008 6-8:30pm. This event in Boston, MA
brought together ELP current and Senior Fellows, representatives from various organizations
such as Orion Magazine, Mass Audubon, Ocean River Institute, Lesley University, and the Switzer
Foundation to name a few. Attendees enjoyed live music, food and cocktails while networking
with New England's emerging environmental & social change leaders.
•Nature for All! A Discussion about Youth &
Nature This issue forum in Lawrence, MA took place this past May 31 and brougth people together
to talk about youth in low-income communities in the cities and their relationship to the
environment. Local organizations Groundwork Lawrence and Adelante, Inc. were represented
in the panel and played a key role in bringing the local perspective to the forum. Follow up events will
take place this year so stay tunned for more information.
•Panel Discussion on Philanthropy for Environmental & Social Change
organizations in New England - ELP Senior Fellows only. This panel discussion
brought together differing perspectives withing the Philanthropy world. Senior Fellows gained
first-hand understanding of the intricacies of grant-making.
•Book Signing, Reading and Q&A with Bracken Hendricks - Wednesday, February 20, 2008.Cosponsored
with the Green Roundtable, Ceres, UCS, Boston Climate Action Network, and Mass Energy Consumers Alliance
and People’s Power & Light.
