Biography:

Abby joined the Environment and Trade Division of the Office of Environmental Policy a year ago to help administer trade-related environmental cooperation agreements.  She has worked mostly on Central America, cleaner production, and public participation, and now her portfolio has expanded to include Oman coordination and agreements on forestry and fisheries.  She was first introduced to OES through an internship the summer before and returned after finishing a Dual Masters Degree at The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and in the Department of Urban & Environmental Policy & Planning at Tufts University.  More specifically, she studied international environment and energy policy with a focus on implementation in Latin America.  Her thesis analyzed renewable energy and the Clean Development Mechanism in Central America.  Throughout graduate school Abby helped draft a book on global forest policy, assisted with climate change research, taught an adult course on food security, and did an internship on implementation of multilateral environmental agreements in Costa Rica.  Prior to graduate school, Abby received a BS in Environmental Science at the University of Mary Washington, volunteered in the Ecuadorian Amazon, and studied abroad in India, New Zealand, China, and Costa Rica.  While she has studied and worked throughout the world, Abby also immerses herself in her local community. Whether she is planting a garden with kids in the Amazon, connecting Tufts with the community, or holding a roundtable on bikeways, Abby enjoys uniting people around environmental issues.
