From energy exploration to climate change and fisheries, the oceans are up to the gills with problems. Please join us for discussion on changes in the world of coastal zone development and management that affect the ocean, and what steps are being taken at the moment to attempt to protect, preserve, and promote ocean and coastal ecosystems (including the recently-released Implementation Plan for the Obama Administration's National Ocean Policy).
Sean Dixon is a 2011 ELP Senior Fellow and the Coastal Policy Attorney at Clean Ocean Action, a regional ocean advocacy group with a mission to protect the Mid-Atlantic Bight from pollution. In his role at Clean Ocean Action, Sean has worked on issues ranging from fertilizer control laws to liquefied natural gas import facilities and everything in between. Prior to his move to COA, Sean was a Lecturer and Yale University teaching courses on ocean resource policy, and spent a year working on commercial fishing vessels in Alaska as a federal fisheries observer. Sean has a as JD in environmental law and an LLM in Climate Change Law from Pace Law School, and a MEM in ecosystems and climate policy from Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
