    City of Philadelphia Capital Program
    The Capital Program is the City's financing and implementation plan for the construction and renovation of City-owned buildings, public facilities and infrastructure. The Capital Program is the City's six-year plan for investing in its facilities and infrastructure.

    City of Philadelphia Department of Commerce
    The Department of Commerce is the economic development arm of the city and implements the City's economic development policy. Using local, state and federal funding, the Department of Commerce supports commercial and industrial rehabilitation, and infrastructure and business development.

    City of Philadelphia Department of Streets - Recycling Office
    The mission of the Recycling Office is to divert the maximum amount of materials possible from disposal by providing environmental leadership and education to promote waste reduction policies, commercial, municipal, and household recycling, and the purchase of recycled content products.

    City of Philadelphia Managing Directors Office

    The Municipal Energy Office (MEO) is charged with improving energy efficiency and reducing costs in City-owned facilities.

    City of Philadelphia Water Department
    The utility's primary mission is to plan for, operate, and maintain both the infrastructure and the organization necessary to purvey high quality drinking water, to provide an adequate and reliable water supply for all household, commercial, and community needs, and to sustain and enhance the region's watersheds and quality of life by managing wastewater and storm water effectively.

    Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission
    Serving the Greater Philadelphia region for over 30 years, DVRPC works to foster regional cooperation in a nine-county, two state area. City, county and state representatives work together to address key issues, including transportation, land use, environmental protection and economic development.

    Fairmount Park Commission
    The mission of the Fairmount Park Commission is to preserve and protect Philadelphia's open spaces, to provide opportunities for recreation, to maintain the landscapes, structures, streams, and woodlands that exist within the boundaries of the parks for the health and enjoyment of the citizens.

    Philadelphia City Planning Commission
    The City Planning Commission is responsible for guiding the orderly growth and development of the City of Philadelphia. The PCPC is made up of five divisions: Community Planning, Strategic Planning and Policy, Development, Urban Design, and GIS/Graphics.

    State Government

    Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control
    The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control protects and manages the state's vital natural resources, protects public health and safety, provides quality outdoor recreation and serves and educates the citizens about the wise use, conservation and enhancement of Delaware's Environment.

    Delaware River Basin Commission
    The Delaware River Basin is a regional body with the force of law to oversee a unified approach to managing the Delaware River without regard to political boundaries.

    New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection
    The New Jersey EPA's mission is to assist the residents of New Jersey in preserving, sustaining, protecting and enhancing the environment to ensure the integration of high environmental quality, public health and economic vitality.

    Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture - Region 7
    The Department of Agriculture's bureaus include (among others) farmland preservation, food safety, and plant industry. The Hardwood Development Council and the State Conservation Commission are also part of the Department. Agriculture is Pennsylvania's #1 industry.

    Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
    The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is charged with maintaining and preserving the 116 state parks; managing the 2.1 million acres of state forest land; providing information on the state's ecological and geologic resources; and establishing community conservation partnerships with grants and technical assistance to benefit rivers, trails, greenways, local parks and recreation, regional heritage parks, open space and natural areas.

    Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
    The Department of Environmental Protection's mission is to protect Pennsylvania's air, land and water from pollution and to provide for the health and safety of its citizens through a cleaner environment. The department works as partners with individuals, organizations, governments and businesses to prevent pollution and restore natural resources.

    Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission
    The mission of the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission (SCC) to ensure the wise use of Pennsylvania's natural resources and to protect and restore the natural environment through the conservation of its soil, water and related resources.

    National Government

    U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (Philadelphia Regional Office)
    The mission of the Philadelphia Regional Office is to ensure that federal programs for energy efficiency and clean power technologies are implemented in the Mid-Atlantic Region, providing the region with a stronger economy, a healthier environment and a more secure future.

    U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service (Northeast Region)
    The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the national park system for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.

    U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance (Philadelphia Region)
    The principal program areas of the Philadelphia Regional Office include NEPA, federal project reviews, emergency response, natural resource damage assessment and restoration, hazardous material management, and support to the Secretary.

    New Jersey Public Policy Research Institute
    The New Jersey Public Policy Research Institute, (NJPPRI) identifies, analyzes and disseminates information critical to informed public policy development in and for the African-American community in New Jersey and the region.

    Penn Environmental Group (PEG)
    The Penn Environmental Group is University of Pennsylvania student-led group that focuses on environmental education and action. PEG deals with issues of local change and national and global awareness.

    The Center for Watershed Stewardship's purpose is to create the next generation of watershed professionals by combining interdisciplinary capabilities with strong disciplinary bases in a community-oriented context.

    Penn State University, The Hamer Center for Community Design Assistance
    The purpose of the Hamer Center is to provide communities with education and technical assistance as they seek innovative design solutions related to land use and transportation issues, community and economic development, and environmental concerns.

    Camden Greenways
    Camden Greenways, Inc.'s mission is to implement the comprehensive Greenways Plan that details an extensive linear park system along the Delaware River, Cooper River, and Newton Creek in Camden, New Jersey.

    Clean Air Council
    Clean Air Council is a member- supported, non-profit environmental organization dedicated to protecting everyone's right to breathe clean air. The Council works through public education, community advocacy, and government oversight to ensure enforcement of environmental laws.

    The Coalition for Affordable Housing and the Environment
    The Coalition for Affordable Housing and the Environment, a statewide group of planning, environmental and housing organizations, and advocates who recognize the interdependency of urban, suburban and rural communities, is working to build unique partnerships for a just and sustainable New Jersey.

    Delaware Riverkeeper Network
    The Delaware Riverkeeper Network is a nonprofit membership organization that works to strengthen citizen protection of the Delaware River and its tributary watersheds.

    Delaware Valley Green Building Council
    The mission of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council is to advance and promote sustainable and environmentally responsible planning, design, construction and operation of the region’Äös buildings, landscapes, cities and communities, mindful of the legacy left for future generations.

    Energy Cooperative Association of Pennsylvania
    The mission of the Energy Cooperative is to provide energy cost savings, education and advocacy on behalf of our members, particularly our low-income, elderly, and disabled members; to promote the efficient use of energy and the use of renewable energy; and to support cooperative concepts and participate in the cooperative movement.

    Energy Coordinating Agency of Philadelphia, Inc.
    The Energy Coordinating Agency is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to ensuring that low and moderate income people have access to safe, affordable and reliable sources of energy and water. ECA also works to develop a sustainable energy future for the region through energy conservation and renewable energy.

    The Enterprise Center
    The Enterprise Center recruits, trains, and nurtures entrepreneurs and grows start-up companies in urban communities. The center believes that the entrepreneurial spirit is the keystone of community growth and revival. The center is currently trying to foster minority entrepreneurship in Greater Philadelphia.

    Environmental Fund for Pennsylvania (EFP/Greenworks)
    EFP/GreenWorks is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to educate, promote and broaden the financial support of volunteer based environmental, conservation and recreation organizations that work to directly benefit the health and quality of life of the people of Pennsylvania.

    Greater Philadelphia Clean Cities Program
    Clean Cities is a voluntary, locally-based, fuel neutral, government/industry partnership coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy to mobilize local stakeholders in the effort to expand the use of alternative fuels by accelerating the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and their supporting infrastructure.

    Garden State EnviroNet
    The Garden State EnviroNet (GSE) serves as a central hub for the myriad of environmental news and issues spanning New Jersey.

    Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance
    The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance leads the effort to increase positive awareness of, participation in and support for cultural organizations among business, community and elected leaders, audiences and the general public.

    Greater Philadelphia Transportation Initiative
    The mission of the Greater Philadelphia Transportation Initiative is to foster transportation choices that enhance the quality of life and economic viability of the Philadelphia region.

    The Highlands Coalition
    The Highlands Coalition, established in 1988, seeks to protect and enhance the sustainability of natural and human communities in the Highlands region of PA, NJ, NY and CT. The Coalition is comprised of more than 110 local, state, regional and national conservation organizations.

    Interfaith Coalition on Energy
    The mission of the Interfaith Coalition on Energy is to inspire congregations to use less energy and reduce the cost to operate their facilities in order to create dollars for community service while practicing environmental stewardship.

    ISLES
    Isles, Inc., is a nationally recognized nonprofit community development and environmental organization with the mission to foster more self-reliant families in healthy, sustainable communities.

    Metropolitan Philadelphia Policy Center
    The Metropolitan Philadelphia Policy Center is a collaborative non-profit, whose mission is to develop bold initiatives to strengthen the economic vitality of the region and to ensure that the Metropolitan Philadelphia area offers the highest quality of life for all who live here.

    Nature Conservancy Pennsylvania Chapter
    The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

    Association of NJ Environmental Commissions
    ANJEC is a statewide non-profit organization that assists the efforts of environmental commissions, local officials, interested citizens, private organizations and government agencies.

    New Jersey Conservation Foundation
    The Mission of the New Jersey Conservation Foundation is to preserve New Jersey's land and natural resources for the benefit of all.

    New Jersey Future
    New Jersey Future is the state's largest smart-growth advocacy group leading the fight for better-managed growth under the State Plan, and for sustainable development: a strong economy, a healthy natural environment and a just society for ourselves and future generations.

    New Jersey Work Environment Council

    Audubon's mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

    Pennsylvania Environmental Defense Foundation
    The mission of the Pennsylvania Environmental Defense Foundation is to aid, assist and educate the people of Pennsylvania by advocating and enforcing their rights to a clean environment.

    Pennsylvania Forestry Association
    The Pennsylvania Forestry Association is a non-profit association of individuals, landowners, loggers, forest industries, resource professionals and businesses that are concerned about the stewardship of Pennsylvania's forest resources.

    Pennsylvania Horticultural Society
    The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society motivates people to improve the quality of life and create a sense of community through horticulture.

    Philadelphia Cares
    Philadelphia Cares mobilizes people to address the critical social, educational, and environmental needs in the greater Philadelphia region through volunteer action.

    Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia
    The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia actively promotes the appreciation, protection, and revitalization of the Philadelphia region’Äös historic buildings, communities, and landscapes.

    The Regional Planning Partnership (RPP)
    The Regional Planning Partnership (RPP) is the oldest non-profit research and advocacy organization in New Jersey promoting both sound economic development and conservation policies through better land use planning and regional cooperation.

    Sierra Club - Southeastern Pennsylvania Group
    The Sierra Club works to protect communities and the planet. The Club is America's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.

    Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC)
    The Student Environmental Action Coalition is a grassroots network of student and youth led environmental and social justice organization. SEAC networks local, state/regional, and national activities and individuals.

    10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania
    10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania is an alliance of organizations and individuals committed to promoting land use policies and actions that will enable Pennsylvania to strengthen its diverse urban, suburban, and rural communities and reduce sprawl.

    The Trust for Public Land - NJ
    The Trust for Public Land is the only national nonprofit working exclusively to protect land for human enjoyment and well-being. TPL helps conserve land for recreation and spiritual nourishment and to improve the health and quality of life of American communities.

    Wildlands Conservancy
    Wildlands Conservancy is a non-profit, member-supported organization dedicated to land preservation, river preservation, trail development and environmental stewardship through education.

    Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association
    The Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association is a nonprofit conservation group dedicated to protecting the open space of the Wissahickon Valley, in enhancing its water quality, and and in educating people of all ages about environmental concerns.

    Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living
    The mission of Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living is to safeguard the right to live in an environmentally safe community; to educate the community about the risks associated with exposure to environmentally unsound industries, organize around enviromental issues and establish a way to achieve environmental justice.

    The Food Trust
    The Food Trust works to increase access to affordable, nutritious foods; improve the health of children and adults through better nutrtion; and support local farms and sustain the environment.

    Friends of the Wissahickon
    The Friends of the Wissahickon is a 1,300 member nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve the natural beauty and wilderness of the Wissahickon Valley

    Greenspace Alliance of Southeastern Pennsylvania
    The Alliance is a group of more than 100 organizations that include conservation professionals, environmental advocates, planners, and educations. The Alliance works on hands-on land protection, community and regional planning, advocacy, education, and other environmental work.

    The Latino Fellows Public Policy Leadership Institute
    This institute represents a partnership with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs-Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development and the Center for Strategic Urban Community Leadership. This joint effort is aimed at providing opportunities for training and experiential learning to Latino college students, while encouraging them to pursue policy level positions in New Jersey, where Latinos represent the second largest population.

    Natural Lands Trust
    The Natural Lands Trust is a nonprofit regional land trust that protects natural areas through the ownership and management of preserves. The trust works with landowners, local and county developers, and nonprofit conservation groups.

    Norris Square Neighborhood Project, Inc.
    The Norris Square Neighborhood Project, Inc. works with families of the community to improve either the natural environment or the built environment. The project grows community gardens, does murals, and conducts educational workshops as well as an after school program.

    Pennsylvania Environmental Council
    The Pennsylvania Environmental Council brings together individuals, other organizations, government, business, and industry to promote sustainable use of land and natural resources, protect watersheds, and find innovative solutions to environmental problems.

    Pennsylvania Environmental Network (PEN)
    The Pennsylvania Environmental Network is a network of community environmental groups and individuals. PEN supports and encourages grassroots environmental organizations focuses especially on issues of environmental justice.

    Pennsylvania Land Trust Association
    The Pennsylvania Land Trust Association promotes voluntary land conservation by supporting the missions of land trusts and building a positive climate for conservation in Pennsylvania.

    Pennsylvania Resources Council
    The Pennsylvania Resources Council is a nonprofit organization that links industry, government, and grass-roots organizations to find solutions to environmental problems. PRC works with waste reduction and recycling, litter control, and preservation of scenic areas.

    Pennsylvania Wildlfe Federation
    The Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation's mission is to educate Pennsylvanians about the environment and to inspire them to protect and conserve natural resources.

    Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust
    The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust protects, restores, and preserves the lands of the central Pennypack Creek valley. PERT assembles and manages the Pennypack Preserv

    Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations
    PACDC is dedicated to advocacy, policy development and technical assistance for CDCs and other organizations in their efforts to rebuild communities and revitalize neighborhoods.

    Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education
    The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is a nonprofit institution that promote through education the preservation and improvement of the natural environment. The center owns and manages 500 acres of open space in Philadelphia.

    South Jersey Leadership Institute
    The purpose of the South Jersey Regional Leadership Institute is to prepare a diverse cadre of South Jersey leaders to work collaboratively to establish partnerships in order to build stronger communities in the cities and underserved areas of the larger southern region.

    Networking Organizations

    Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia
    The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia is a nonprofit network of local triple-bottom-line businesses and social entrepreneurs. The network is made up of local business people, professionals, social entreprenuers, investors, not-for-profit leaders, and government representatives who are committed to building a more socially, environmentally, and financially sustainable local economy.

    Village of Arts and Humanities
    The Village is a community-based arts, education, and neighborhood development organization located in inner city North Philadelphia. The Village works on revitalizing neighborhoods through art, community parks, gardens, etc.

    Professional Organizations

    Association for the New Urbanism in Pennsylvania
    The Association promotes the Charter of the New Urbanism within Pennsylvania; educates the general public about New Urbanist planning, design and development; supports the adoption of comprehensive plans and zoning ordinances which promote Traditional Neighborhood Development; and supports the implementation of projects consistent with the Charter at local, county and state levels.

    Mid-Atlantic Consortium of Recycling and Economic Development Officials (MACREDO)
    The organization's mission is to identify, promote, and implement projects and programs that enhance recycling and economic development opportunities on a regional basis.

    Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture
    The Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture is a nonprofit organization working to improve the economic and social prosperity of Pennsylvania food and agriculture. PASA is a state-wide member-based sustainable farming organization that connects concerned consumers and family farmers.

    Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc.
    PACD is a nonprofit organization that serves as the collective voice of Pennsylvania's conservation districts. PACD represents the districts at the state and national levels on issues of soil, water, and related resouce management, and deals with both urban and agricultural issues.

    Pennsylvania Planning Association
    The Pennsylvania Planning Association is a non-profit independent organization for citizen and professional planners as well as organizations and other individuals interested in planning, and serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas to encourage good planning practice and to stimulate citizen interests in community improvement through education and awareness.

    The Society of Environmental Journalists is a network of 1,200 journalists and academics who specialize in environmental issues. SEJ's mission is to advance public understanding of environmental issues and improve the quality, accuracy, and visibility of environmental reporting.
