What is the time commitment required for the Regional Fellowship Program?
Although fellows continue in their full-time employment or studies during the one-year Regional Fellowship, they are required to participate in various activities throughout the year. Fellows must attend three overnight retreats. The three 2009 retreats will be held on December 4-7, 2008, March 27-29, 2009 and July 24-26, 2009.

In addition to retreats, fellows have assignments and activities throughout the year that average about 10 hours per month. Time required for these activities varies. Activities will include developing and refining a Personal Leadership Plan, meeting in small groups, providing feedback to staff and other fellows, participating in optional training opportunities, taking leadership on collaborative projects, and writing a formal program evaluation at the conclusion of the program.

As an undergraduate college student, am I eligible for the Regional Fellowship?
Because the Fellowship targets environmental professionals with three to ten years of work experience, most undergraduate college students are not eligible due to their limited experience in the work world. Of course, if you are a student that is part-time or returning to school and you have significant work experience, you may be an exception.

Does the ELP Activity Fund only support new projects or can I request support for ongoing work?
Projects supported by the ELP Activity Fund should build on your current work and expertise, but take it in a new direction. The Activity Fund does not provide support for an already existing project but can be used to leverage an existing project into a new realm. For example, funding could be provided to expand the outreach of an existing program so that it reaches a broader constituency.

Am I eligible for the Regional Fellowship if my primary job is not environmentally related but I am involved in environmental or social justice activities as a volunteer or consultant?
Yes. Applicants who are substantially involved in environmental or social justice work outside their professional work or studies are eligible for ELP programs.
